Mason County Community Services – Substance Use Prevention supports healthy behaviors and knowledge by facilitating the Prevention Education Partners (PEP) Coalition. The Prevention Education Partners Coalition began in January 2014 to address some of the high risk health behaviors and needs of youth in Shelton, Washington. The Coalition has since expanded beyond Shelton to also include North Mason and is made up of a diverse group of community partners and passionate community members dedicated to alcohol and substance abuse prevention. The mission of PEP is to support efforts to reduce substance abuse and related harmful behaviors and to increase healthy behaviors among youth by developing and implementing strategies in a culturally relevant and competent way.

The mission of the Mason County Health Coalition, Mason Matters, is to bring together members of the community to help improve the health and wellbeing of our county. This is achieved through different projects that are designed by the coalition’s workgroups. The workgroups include Behavioral Health, Access to Healthcare, Education and Employment, Healthy Living, Housing and Homelessness, and Empowered Families.

NAMI Mason County WA is an affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). Our members include families, friends, and those individuals with the lived experience of a mental health condition such as schizophrenia, schizo-affective, bipolar disorder (manic depression), major (clinical) depression, obsessive compulsive disorder, and general anxiety disorder. We sponsor free support groups and education programs, and advocate for improvements to our mental health delivery systems in terms of access to care, standards of care, recovery, housing, jobs, and rehabilitation.
